A Solemn Anniversary
Today is the 40th Anniversary of the USA's first great space tragedy, the Apollo 1 fire.
Grissom, Chaffee and White were flash-fried in an an incident that never needed have taken place, had the Soviets not classified the "uncomfortable truth" that one of their astronauts had been killed virtually the identical manner.
Poor Gus. He never could seem to get a break. It was very very sad.
It still is, to me who lived through it. And all who did.
Courage.
